About Me
My name is Heather B. I make abstract graphic colorscapes. Collage is my preferred medium; but I also enjoy painting and monoprinting. In my work, I experiment with color and use pattern and transparency to create visual texture. I enjoy the juxtaposition of solid blocks of color with elements of pattern. Utilizing gel plate monoprinting techniques, I create the painted papers I use to construct my collages and enhance my paintings. The monoprinting process provides an opportunity for play, improvisation, and intuition. Collaging allows me to juxtapose distinct and oftentimes contrasting fragments together to create compelling compositions that bring order to chaos with simple forms and elements of framing. Based in Atlanta, Georgia, I have a professional background in residential architecture with a master’s degree in architecture from Georgia Tech. I am inspired by color, architecture, nature, and the patterns I see in the world around me. I hope my art sparks a sense of imagination and invites you to find your own interpretation and meaning. Welcome to my colorful world.
