Abstract Collage Artist
About The Artist
Heather B. is an abstract collage artist based in Atlanta, Georgia. Her work explores spatial depth, rhythm, and balance through colorful, layered compositions that feel both structured and intuitive.
With a background in architecture, Heather brings a deep sensitivity to form, pattern, and spatial organization to her art. After earning both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in architecture from Georgia Tech, she spent over fifteen years working in residential design. That architectural foundation continues to inform her creative practice, shaping the way simple forms interact, overlap, and create a sense of movement and depth within each piece.
Working abstractly allows Heather to focus on the essential elements of color, form, space, and pattern without any implied meaning. Bold palettes, simple shapes, and layered textures come together in compositions that reference architectural framing and spatial relationships while remaining playful and exploratory. Screening and framing elements guide the viewer’s eye through the work, inviting a closer look and visual discovery.
Her collages are constructed from painted papers created on a gel plate using acrylic paint, stencils, masks, and mark-making tools. The improvisational nature of gel printing is central to her process, embracing variation, chance, and experimentation. No two prints are ever the same, and this unpredictability mirrors her ongoing interest in the balance between structure and spontaneity.
Inspired by color, architecture, and the patterns found in the everyday world, Heather’s work invites viewers into abstract environments that celebrate intuition, process, and the quiet joy of visual exploration.
